Hi guys! Merry Christmas, and a happy New Year!
Wow, it's been two months since the last post. I'm sorry to make you all wait so long, guys. In my defense, it has been among the busiest two months of my life. We've had health scares, scholarship opportunities, visits from distant friends, and more events suddenly hit us like an artillery barrage, on top of the usual pressure of finals and work. Still, I must admit that if I really wanted to, I could have had this out sooner. At the least, I could have been posting here, giving people an update on what's going on. So I apologize. Now, I've got to think about my methodology, both in how I write these chapters and in communicating on the boards.
Allow me one more time to reiterate, I'm telling this story through to the end. One of the reasons I created this board and invited everyone on was to force myself to get back into storytelling, and tell this tale all the way through to completion. So that's what I'm going to do, however long it takes.
Anyway, let's talk about the future of Talland! At least for Chres, my thought is that, in the upcoming chapters, Chres will accompany a group of hunters to the Knotted Palisades (thanks for the name, Docboy and Drahcir), where adventure will undoubtedly follow. I've no doubt that we'll get our first taste of the more fantastical monsters out there, and perhaps some kind of classic dungeoneering. But where are you planning on taking the focus of your stories?

Oh yeah, new posts! Where to begin?
Docboy, as I've told you elsewhere, I thought this chapter was the bomb. There was so much cool stuff here! You did a phenomenal, inspiring job in ratcheting up the tension, introducing cool little skills of Victor's, and that final scene! Ah, so good. Really, I thought this whole thing was awesome. It leaves me wanting so much more.
Mish, this one was a real goodie. I enjoyed the brief portrait of Ridgewood that you painted. Kamina has a unique perspective on Ridgewood and what's happening there, and I hope we see even more of that. It's so easy to sympathize with her and what she's going through with her family. And David's introduction was fantastic. Really, the whole dialogue was fantastic. I can't wait to see where you take the characters.
Thanks, guys. I love reading your stuff, both as a reader and a writer. It's so much fun to see your talents, and it inspires me to write and improve myself.

Yes, Docboy, yours was quite exciting! I can't wait for part 2. It makes my stuff feel sooooooo slooooooow and kinda boring. I will most likely write some action in the future, once Kamina gets into such a position, but I don't know if I'm going to be much good at it. I'll do my best when the time comes, though. I also look forward to yours, Kaiser, and anyone else who adds more to their stories.

Fantastic stuff, Mish! Your dialogue is great, and Jarren and David both are really effective secondary characters. I hope David doesn't get himself into too much trouble with that headstrong passion!
For myself, I'm going to pause for just a little while to give the others the chance to add to the ongoing story. But I know where I'm going next with Chres and co., and he'll be back soon. Things are really going to explode (narratively speaking) with the Timber Palisades. I think you're all going to like it.

Thanks. Yeah, I'm worried about David myself. I honestly don't know what's going to happen to him at this time.

So the next of Chres' chapters is posted onto the board! It's a short piece, just designed to space things out so a few of the other authors can play catch up. Hopefully it's a pretty good character piece that sheds some more light on Chres and a some of his companions. I'm really excited for what's coming up, because the story is going to kick into gear in the next chapter or two. I've got one scene coming up which I've had in my mind since this whole RP started.
As an aside, I've sent out some PMs to a few of you guys who haven't posted in a while. Are you getting emails informing you of those messages (or of this post, for that matter)?

Quick update: I've got a lot of schoolwork that I have to get knocked out by next Tuesday. Once that's out of the way, I hope to put together and submit out the next chapter.

Awesome new chapter, Kaiser! I loved it and can't wait for more. Also didn't mention on here about the other chapters, since I discussed it with you guys directly, but Cyphir and Drahcir, great job on yours, too. Excellent work and thrilling, making me eager for the next part.

Mish beat me to it. :{) Yes, a new chapter is up! I apologize (again) for the long wait (again). But now the story is really kicking off in earnest. What's really going on here? What's happened to Chres? And where is Carmen Sandiego? All this and more next two months week on TALLAND: THE NEW ADVENTURES!1
No, but seriously, I am sorry, and I really appreciate everyone who is contributing to the story, as well as those who are checking in and reading. It's awesome having everybody together, taking part in this thing. I'm homing to see an uptick in activity after semester's end. For my own part, the next scene should be a short dialogue scene, so I'm really hoping to get that one up way sooner than this one. Hopefully, you enjoy this contribution, and the wait was worth it!
Mish: Thanks! That means a lot. Your chapter was awesome, too! I keep looking back to your stuff for tips on how to bring characters to life. I want moar!
Cyphir: I failed to put my praise to print. I love it so much. Great dialogue. The idea of having a scientist there studying the monsters for clues never crossed my mind, but it is such an obvious, great addition to the world. I know Eleonara is mk's creation, so I don't know who thought of it, it was brilliant either way. And coupled with fantastic writing too. I want moar!
Drahcir: You made a simple bar scene really interesting. Some really awesome dialogue, and Ron's shaping up to be a fantastic character. I want... wait for it... moar!

Mish, I never posted on this board in response to your latest chapter. It's so good. You're a great writer and can squeeze a lot out of even the smallest scenes. I love following Kamina's stuff, especially knowing the broad strokes of where you're taking her. I can't wait to read what comes next. Also, new chapter from me! It's rough, and I'd like to edit some things on the word-craft front(Speaking of which, I've applied a small edit to the fight in the previous chapter, so Chres could show off his wind powers a little bit). But it does push out a lot of story, and lays down the groundwork for more. This chapter was background. Coming up, we're going to be unveiling a lot of mystery and pushing the present plot into overdrive. At this point, I'm under the assumption that only a very few of us are still checking the forums and participating in the story. If there are any lurkers out there, I strongly encourage you to throw a post out, even if it's just to say hey! It'd be very encouraging. Also, I've PMed a whole bunch of you because I'm hoping to incorporate some of your characters or themes into some upcoming Chres chapters. So post back so we can coordinate!

I apologize for the double post. I wanted to get some more groundwork laid down before things start happening (as I know stuff is already in the works). I promise I will wait now until others have posted!

Sorry for the kinda lame-o chapter. For having important information in it, I just couldn't seem to get into the writing for this one.
