So I'm to understand you didn't even know about this thread? ...I need to invest in some ads. =P As for stars, those are just awarded based on your post count, along with a title. IE you go from Graduate to Junior when your postcount hits 25. Well, I hadn't really gone exploring until today, so it's partially my fault. Ohhhhh I figured it was either post count or grammar points. I have been doing splendidly, thank you for noticing. #5...uhhh Barium...you know "bar" and "martini"... I have a feeling I'm not going to be very good at this game.

Ah-hah, I see.
And nope. Admirable guess, but no. =)

I'm guessing Mish's clue is Barium. "Bury 'im."
For the life of me, I can't peg this explosive martini one.

Explosive Martini and Plunder Knott's home still haven't been answered, just to note. I'll leave it for a few more hours before switching the question.

I'm so jealous. Why can't any of my threads be "hot?" *runs away to cry in a corner*
But seriously, time for a new question, Cyphir!

Welp, answer time!
Plunder Knott's home is "Raid Don" or Radon. Don Knotts being the major hint there.
Explosive Martini is "Nitro Gin" or Nitrogen. Somewhat surprised no one got that one.

Next is a game of Homophonies. Homophones are, as we know, words that sound alike but have different spelling and meanings. Try to give me the homophonic pair of words that might describe the following clues. For example, "nasty appearance" being "mean mien." 1 point for each correct guess.
1) Ovarian sidearm 2) Postprandial abandon 3) Hip-hopped in amazement 4) Boxed agreement 5) Outstanding precipitate 6) Consume figure 7) Star scion 8) Wash expires 9) Study carmine 10) Witness the expanse

#3 Jamb jam
Also, is "precipitate" from #5 used as a noun (as in, rain or sleet) or as a verb (as in, to hasten)?

That's not what I was thinking for #3, but go with it and I might accept it. How does Jamb jam fit it?
Precipitate is a noun.
As some hints... 1) Ovarian sidearm - "Sidearm" as in a weapon. 2) Postprandial abandon - "Postprandial" is a formal word that relates to food. 3) Hip-hopped in amazement - What can be another name for hip-hop? 4) Boxed agreement - Find the synonym for agreement that might fit this sentence "He made an agreement with unnatural forces." 5) Outstanding precipitate - So I'm part of a voice acting dub of an animated movie. Recently, my director sent a reminder that we have some really outstanding lines. Keep in mind that one of our actors has nearly 20 weeks worth of lines to do. 6) Consume figure - Consume is in the past-tense. 8) Wash expires - Wash is a noun.

All right, time for a new question:
1) Ovarian sidearm - Pistil pistol 2) Postprandial abandon - Dessert desert 3) Hip-hopped in amazement - Rapped rapt 5) Outstanding precipitate - Due dew 8) Wash expires - Dye die

Next Question: a good number of people probably know what the speed of light is. What's the speed of dark? (There are two potential answers to this. I'll accept either.)
|
|
|
Post by Drahcir on Jul 13, 2014 9:43:33 GMT -8
Isn't it the same as the speed of light? Or rather, the speed at which light becomes absent?
|
|
|
Post by Iron Kaiser on Jul 13, 2014 9:46:33 GMT -8
Dark matter, or dark as in absence of light? I'm inclined to say the speed of light is zero, for darkness is a void through which light moves. Hm...

Ding ding!
That's one of the theories. My personal favorite is that dark simply does not move. It's a plane underneath light that is revealed upon light moving away. But the jury's out on that one, so I'll accept your answer. Ten points, Drahc my good sir!
EDIT: Oh, well, Kaiser posted before me. Five points to him, then, for getting the secondary answer.

Thesaurus Rex: silly title aside, I'll give you three definitions for a common word, one at a time. The faster you can give me that word, the more points you'll amass. So, for example, if I started with "Staunch and Enduring" and you all failed to guess it, then I'd add on "Dark Ale." Let's say someone then got the answer of "Stout," meaning they didn't need the third definition of "Heavy-Set." So, let's give this a whirl.
First definition: To straighten.
